Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont delivers experiential learning for youth, educators, and adults through programs that promote learning about the park. Several hiking trails start nearby.

Closest hiking and waterfall in the Smokies. About a 30 minute drive. Hike up to the Spruce Flats Falls waterfall from the Tremont Institute educational center (about a 30 min. Hike one way) it is the closest waterfall hike where we bring all our guests, or you can drive to the end of Tremont road, 3 miles after it turns to gravel, and hike West Prong Trail. It is a nice wide trail that runs along the Little River. Not steep. Good for all ages.

The "Tremont," as the locals call it, is the Middle Prong of the Little River and has some of the best fishing in the park. If you take the road to it's end, you can hike to Rainbow falls (left fork). This is one of our favorite areas in the park!
