Savenake Forest is on the outskirts of Marlborough about 25 minutes drive from Liddington. It’s an ancient forest with beautiful walks and amazing ancient trees. One old oak in reputedly over 800 years old. Henry VIII hunted here and also met his third wife here, Jane Seymour. Wolfhall, on the outskirts of Burbage and on the edge of Savernake Forest, is the legendary Tudor manor that came to epitomise the ruthless world of Henry VIII's adviser Thomas Cromwell and inspired Hilary Mantel's novel Wolf Hall, as depicted in the BAFTA award-winning drama starring Mark Rylance.
