One of the four ancient cities of Kea (aka Tetrapolis). Nicely excavated with a recent addition of a 4th century BC theater. Access via footpath, mules hiring or by sea and speedboat hiring from Keadivers.gr
To reach Karthaia you need to walk down a path ( 50 min approx). Take light lunch and liquids with you as there is absolute nothing once you reach the site and beach. Please keep the beach clean, thank you.
If you enjoy hiking this is a place that you should go. You will find unique old ruins build on a rocky hill between two beautiful beaches.
Karthea is an ancient site on the southeast side of the island. Make sure you wear proper walking shoes. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. There is also a lovely beach with the best crystal clear waters. Pay a visit to the ancient theatre, and the temples of Apollo and Athina.
