Port Stephens Council in partnership with Port Stephens Koalas has created a Koala Sanctuary to ensure first-class care to sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Now opened daily, the Koala Sanctuary offers visitors a unique opportunity to see koalas in their natural habitat. A visit to the Sanctuary also supports their long-term rehabilitation, preservation and conservation in the wild. Amazing visit must include the Newcastle Airport SKYwalk and viewing platform. It is a 225 metre in length elevated pathway and viewing platform, offering a unique ‘tree top’ perspective into the koala’s natural habitat, a perfect photo opportunity and educational experience. *Newcastle Airport SKYwalk & viewing platform closes at 4pm.

You can camp there but what you'll really want to go there for is the Koala Sanctuary. Get up close and personal with our favourite locals!

A peaceful place to visit. Take your time & take in nature. Miss the crowds by going In the afternoon around 2.30pm. Stop in at the Cafe for a drink & take a relaxing stroll along the Koala sanctuary treetop boardwalk. Closes at 5pm in Summer & 4pm in Winter. Last entry is 1 hour prior to closing. It’s a feel good place. Knowing your entry fee covers costs for essential care of Koalas.
