This is also on the 'Outlander' trail. Famous as the ' ship that never sailed' it has the remarkable feature that it really looks like a ship when approached form the water. You can get stunning views of all three bridges over the forth and there is a beach with a picnic area nearby.

Walk The foreshore path to Blackness, or take a bus, visit the castle and take in the views across the Forth and the 3 bridges

This 15th century fortress is often referred to as ‘the ship that never sailed’ due to its ship-like shape. It was used as the setting for the Fort William headquarters of Black Jack Randall, as well as featuring in the heart-wrenching scene of Jamie’s incarceration.

15th century fortress on south side of the Forth, reached via a lovely bay walk or a few minutes by car from the accommodation.

Hollywood came to Blackness Castle to film Hamlet, you may not meet any stars but it's still worth a visit and a great vantage point to view the Forth Bridges, all of them!
