This wonderfully designed Japanese-Style garden is peacefully located within the pine forest of Chappaquiddick. Walking through the property is a vacation within your vacation and is not to be missed. The Mytoi Garden is easy to reach when on bike-friendly Chappaquiddick.

Nestled on the island outpost of Chappaquiddick, Mytoi (pronounced “my toy”) is an intimate Japanese-style garden flourishing with both native flora and exotic plants, offering visitors a destination for quiet contemplation. Sheltered by a lovely pine grove, the preserve includes a small pond and island—habitat for turtles, frogs, and goldfish—non-native and native flowers and plants, and a trail leading toward Poucha Pond and the salt marsh.

It is very easy to get to and it is free. Some people take a long bike ride over.

A short ferry ride from Edgartown to Chappaquiddick, the Mytoi Japanese Garden is an amazing experience. Enter a secluded world of designed Japanese elegance in this garden environment of exotic and native plantings that encircle a serene pond. The admissions price is a donation of your choosing. I would recommend bringing some water and bug spray on a humid day, and you will have an incredible time seeing one of the most unique gardens on Martha's Vineyard.
