Abbotosbury Subtropical Gardens are set on a hillside dropping right down to the sea along the Jurassic coast. This aspect gives it a unique climate which enables it to grow some really exotic plants to tropical proportions.

Abbotsbury is a thatched cottage village, with unique sub tropical gardens, a swannery, St.Catherine's 14th c chapel which can be easily accessed and provides stunning views over the coast.

“One of the finest Gardens I have ever visited” Alan Titchmarsh Probably one of the best gardens of its type in the world. Winner of silver medal at Chelsea and silver gilt at Hampton Court Show. Magnificent Victorian walled garden set in 20 acres of woodland valley. The unique micro climate enables rare and exotic species from all over the world to thrive here. Follow the Wonderland Sculpture Trail, enchanting celebrated characters from classic literature faithfully modelled from the original illustrations and cast in bronze. See if you can spot Alice, the Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit and many more. Children's adventure play area. Nature trail. Sunken gardens with golden pheasants. Superb colonial style teahouse with veranda overlooking the sunken garden. Plant centre selling high quality plants, charming gift shop and free parking, outstanding views of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast from the top of the Sir Simon Hornby Magnolia Walk. Winner of the HHA/Christie's Garden of the Year Award 2012.

A garden for all the seasons with a maritime micro-climate, just four miles from Bridport. Lots of exotics. Some concerts and other events in the summer e.g. willow workshops - check abbotsburygardens.co.uk website. NB There is a joint ticket for the Subtropical Gardens and the Swannery, which is just next door. Nine miles from Bridport. On the X53 bus route.
