HNK Ivana pl. Zajca is the national theater with some great shows including international plays. In June & July visit Rijecke ljetne noci, a festival of music and theater out in the open.

A visit of a ballet piece or an opera should be a must if you are in Rijeka. Even if the productions are small and not very international... just to soak up the atmosphere of the architecture is amazing.

Opera, plays, concerts ... in a beautiful old building with a friendly guide. Famous frescoes by the Vienna artists on the ceiling. Placed on a town square with fantastic restaurants.

Rijeka's main theatre with a beautiful garden just in front of it. There is a city market just next to it - I suggest visiting it on weekend mornings.
