“A medieval fortified city buried in the heart of Rabat, Chellah stands as the remains of a pre-Islamic city which was abandoned in 1154 and then built upon by a Merenid Sultan. It is an atmospheric place, full of history and charm. Abandoned buildings and overgrown plants are intertwined with colorful, immaculately maintained flowers and fauna as well as public pathways. This allows visitors to explore the Roman and Islamic ruins, from a bathing pool to a madrasa.”

Point of Interest
“Kasbah des Oudaias Occupying the oldest part of Rabat, Kasbah des Oudaias lies as the original site of the city, complete with stunning river and ocean views. Now a predominantly residential area, it is a peaceful and beautiful place to wander around the narrow, white-washed streets, some painted a refreshing blue.”

“Café Maure has a wonderful location , in the heart of the old streets of the medina , rabat oudayas is like the most and the oldest of Rabat , Old war tangs still next to the beach , a whole street for artisanat and moroccan art you must go get a souvenir there ( fridge magnet or artisanal bags ) , on the way there you must go to the café and taste moroccan pastery with a glass of mint tea . I highly recommend it ”

Sublocality
“The old medina will take you few centuries back in time, it is about 5 mins walk from the flat. A sort of organised chao. Discover the smells and colors of Morocco in the old medina. Please pay more attention to your personal items as it is a crowded place but do not forget to enjoy the moment and take some amazing pictures for your Instagram ;)”
