This beautiful park is worth the 30 minute drive through Tacoma. The park itself is amazing with great views of the Puget Sound but you also can take the day to explore the rose garden or the zoo and aquarium.

Excellent nature park located on the sound. Nice tall NW trees, cliffs, views and wildlife. Several small easy trails and a nice beach to walk along. There's also a zoo located within the park.

Check out 5-mile drive, Owen Beach, or the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum. Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is also conveniently located within Point Defiance Park as well as miles of hiking trails and the Rose and Rhododendron gardens!

If you have some extra time checking out point defiance is a must. It's the 2nd biggest municipal park in the country (1st is Central Park). There are miles worth or trails that are very easy to follow, a great waterfront to walk around (Owen beach) , point defiance zoo and much more.

“Point Ruston has it all! After parking, there is a trail alongside the water with magnificent views of Mt Rainier and the Puget Sound. After walking, enjoy some local food. My favorite is Ice Cream Social! It is very easy to spend the entire day eating, exploring and shopping at Point Ruston.”
