The Royal Automobile Museum depicts the history of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from the early 1920's to the present day. The museum portrays the history of the Kingdom through the cars exhibited. From King Abdullah I, to His Majesty King Abdullah II, each era is represented by a car and an event.

The museum has the rover used in filming of Hollywood's movie The Martian, which used Jordan's UNESCO world heritage site Wadi Rum as the backdrop for the Martian scenes. The rover was gifted to Jordan in return for the hospitality with which Jordan received the movie cast and crew.
