Bertra Beach Drive: 20 minutes Pros: A lovely beach close to home! Great for walks (less than 1 hour) with amazing views across the bay and family swimming in the summer (life guard present). Cons: at high tide there is literally no beach left and you will have to walk in the dunes. It can be stony after storms; as Westport’s ‘house beach’ some parts will get busy during hot spells.

For a morning walk, 1.3 miles down the road. Walk there, bike there on the greenway.
This is a lovely beach with gorgeous views of Croagh Patrick. This beach was destroyed by a storm a few years ago, so it is a very stony beach as result and it is not the best for swimming in. Although the views are lovely.
Another Blue Flag beach popular for kite surfing, wind surfing and birdwatching. It is also a site of environmental and geological importance as it contains the best examples of drumlins (low hills formed by glacial movements and submerged by melting ice caps thousands of years ago).
