I have to be honest I have never been; however, my two daughters rave over their selections when they go. It starts everyone telling about the creation they chose. I gotta go and do should you.

“Entertainment and sweets abound at Gatlinburg's Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen. The old-fashioned candy shop pulls taffy and dips caramel apples in-store as locals and tourists watch. You'll want to try every flavor and bring whatever you miss home in an adorably packaged box. few of our menu favorites include the following: Milk Chocolate Brown Bears Sold in an adorable box featuring industrious young bears, these chocolates remain a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Caramel treats covered in milk chocolate melt in your mouth. Taffy Watch taffy creation in action, until you succumb to the cravings Ole Smoky’s taffy puller and wrapping machine will surely produce. Set aside plenty of time to watch the cooks — decked out in white — as they load taffy onto the store’s puller and add mouthwatering flavors. Combine several of these delicious flavors to create your own unique box. Pecan Divinity It’s only appropriate that you try an old-fashioned treat in an old-fashioned candy shop. Pecan divinity is the ultimate throwback candy, and you can buy it by the box at Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen. Caramel Apples No autumn treat compares to the homemade caramel apples at Ole Smoky, available with or without nuts. Depending on when you arrive, you can see fresh apples dipped right before your eyes. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more colorful, try one of Ole Smoky’s red candy apples — they’re almost too pretty to eat! Insider Tip: Show up while Old Smoky’s candy cooks are at work, and you just might score a free sample if you ask nicely.”

“Get your elastic banded pants on! You’re going to need all the room you can spare to properly enjoy this delicious breakfast stop located in the heart of Gatlinburg, TN. From the best made-from-scratch biscuits we’ve tried on the entire strip, to inch-thick golden brown pancakes hearty enough to satisfy even the most die-hard pancake fanatic, the giant skillet outside isn’t compensating – they’re bragging. Here are some favorites that you’ve gotta try when you visit – The Black Bear Camp Skillet – A delicious combo featuring Pecan Smoked Bacon, generous slice of country or sugar cured ham, a large sausage link that could rival most franks, and 2 farm fresh eggs cooked up any style. Served with a side of fresh made sausage gravy, an enormous freshly made biscuit, grits (cheese, plain or brown sugar) as well as an enormous inch thick pancake and a bowl of fruit. It’s not just breakfast – it’s a feast. Postmasters Favorite – A true southern favorite. Chicken fried steak, home style sausage gravy, 2 farm fresh eggs any style. Served with a side of fresh made gravy, grits (cheese, plain or brown sugar), and that incredible inch thick pancake and fruit. Waffle of Insane Greatness – The name says it all. Really. If you love waffles, be warned – you may experience mild depression when it’s all gone. Stuffed French Toast – For those with a sweet tooth, this one is for you. A french toast extravaganza, take your pick of getting your french toast stuffed with strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, cheese cake (yes – cheesecake), or peanut butter & jelly. Served with warm maple syrup, real whipped cream and powdered sugar. Jimmy Jose’s Scrambler – While Crockett’s 1875 Breakfast Camp has a lot of egg dishes to choose from, this one was truly something special (if you’re a mexican fiend like me!) – 3 farm fresh eggs, scrambled with Chorizo sausage, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cheese, refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream and warm tortillas. If that wasn’t enough to get your whistle wet, it also comes with fresh made sweet corn pone and a choice of candied apples, fresh fruit or hash browns. Pancakes – any variety. Their pancakes are HUGE. I know we said this before, but really, I’ve never seen pancakes that thick or that fluffy before – but boy were they delicious – with or without syrup Crockett’s pancakes are a meal by themselves. We had a blast trying this restaurant, and truly find their breakfast food to be a refreshing surprise on the strip – well seasoned, made fresh – you’ll search long and hard to find a breakfast as delicious and authentic as what Crockett’s Breakfast Camp is serving up daily. Insider Tip: If you’re coming with a family that has small children, it’s really easy to eat on a budget. Get one of the 4 hungry hunters huntcamp skillets – the main course is more than enough food for an adult. It comes with a huge pancake and fruit on the side with it’s own plate – for us we found this to be enough to feed a small child (age 6 or below) no problem.”

“The Cherokee Grill in downtown Gatlinburg is the perfect restaurant for a special occasion or excellent dinner. Although it is difficult to find something that doesn’t taste superb, we strongly recommend the steaks and seafood. The service is second to none! ome of the menu favorites include: Fried Calamari – fresh seafood appetizer with excellent mustard and marinara sauce Spinach-Artichoke Dip – homemade dip served with fresh tortilla chips Blue Cheese Wedge Salad – huge iceberg wedge with bacon and homemade blue cheese dressing Rotisserie Chicken – Half a chicken served with seasoned rice Steaks – All of the steaks ranging from chopped steak to filet are excellent and cooked to perfection Homemade Brownie – Delicious chocolate brownie topped with ice cream and hot fudge sauce This restaurant is your chance to experience excellent service, great food, and Southern hospitality at a reasonable price. Insider Tips: For better service, ask to be seated in the main dining area (not the bar). There is free parking behind the restaurant for those who dine here.”
