Originally a strawberry farm established in 1926 by Issei Mukai, Mukai is on the national register of historic places with the original farmhouse, Japanese Garden and Barreling plant.

Recently renovated and brought back to life, the historical Mukai Farm and Garden is a lovely surprise just west of town, where you can stroll the grounds and enjoy its Japanese gardens.
