A traditionally furnished pub where there is a regular crowd and friendly atmosphere, The Carpenter’s Arms has been a long-time local favourite. Decades ago it was run by the mum of Ronnie and Reggie Kray (the infamous east-end gangsters), but now the only sign of this is a photograph of the boys on the wall, and the welcoming new owners will make you forget about it’s sinister past. The pub has an excellent drinks list, with over 50 ales from around the world and lots of lagers or bottled options as well.
