In addition to being famous for the Miracles Square, Pisa is also known for its spectacular Lungarni: The streets bordering the river Arno. The Lungarni are both important meeting points for young Pisans, both interesting landmarks for tourists. They host important buildings, dating back to the Middle Ages, which were transformed, then, over the centuries. Although Palaces, bridges, towers and churches today assume a renaissance aspect, the eye of the attentive tourist will not escape the skeleton of medieval imprint.

Ponte di Mezzo ha una posizione centrale sulla via principale che attraversava Pisa da nord a sud. Dalla seconda metà del XVII secolo sul ponte si svolge il "Gioco del Ponte". Si tratta di una lotta tra squadre delle due parti di Pisa, a nord e a sud del fiume (Mezzogiorno e Tramontana), per conquistare il ponte spingendo un pesante galleggiante nella parte avversaria del ponte. Ponte di Mezzo has a central position on the main thoroughfare that crossed Pisa from north to south. Since the second half of the 17thcentury, the "Gioco del Ponte" has taken place on the bridge. It involves a struggle between teams from the two parts of Pisa, north and south of the river (Mezzogiorno and Tramontana), to win the bridge by pushing a heavy float into the adversary’s side of the bridge.
