There are a couple different entrances. The most spectacular views and hikes are nearest Moab. There is another opening a little closer to Blanding, called the Needles which is 69 miles NW of Blanding, 1 hour 15 minute drive to the entrance.

Canyonlands is the largest national park in Utah, and its diversity staggers the imagination. The easiest way to see the park is with a visit to the Island in the Sky district, only 32 miles (51.5 km) from Moab. The Island in the Sky offers many pullouts with spectacular views along the paved scenic…

Natural Feature
“From the alpine ridges of the La Sal mountains to the red rock desert and sandstone pinnacles of Castle Rock, the La Sal Loop Road is a great option for a drive or bike ride. You will see mesas and buttes used in movies and drive past steep peaks that often serve as the backdrop in photographs of the famed Delicate Arch. Check the USDA website for more information. ”

Point of Interest
“Distance is 46 miles W of Blanding, 1 hour 10 minute drive. There are overlooks to the three major bridges, but it is very spectacular to hike down to each one. We have done it with a baby carrier, though a couple trails may be less suitable for young walking kids. To hike down to each one, it would take 2-3 hours total. There is also a much longer continuous hike to all three if you prefer.”

Museum
“30 minutes south of Blanding. This museum features pioneers that settled Blanding and Bluff. It’s free to visit and it’s a cool place for adults and kids. Checkout la bunch of log cabins furnished with family heirlooms from the actual pioneers and their stories. There is a place for kids to pan for “gold”, hand carts to pull around, “steer” roping, and pioneer clothes for kids to dress up in. My favorite part is the homemade brownies and cookies sold for $1 .”
