If you’re looking for a longer but leisurely hike check out Boulder Mesa trail - it’s 13.2 mi each way so you can cover as much of it as you like or head back at any point . Beautiful views!

Lots of hiking trails from here. This trail will take you up to Shadow Canyon which you can reach the top of South Boulder Peak and Bear Peak.

10 minutes away. Extensive trail system with great views. Easy to moderate hikes. You also have the access to Bear Peak from the south side via the Shadow Canyon trail. Parking costs $5 for not-locally-registered vehicles, and can be quite limited on weekends or holidays.

One of our favorite places to hike, the South Mesa Trail's have it all. If you're looking for an easy 2.5 mile loop, suitable even for little ones, try the Homestead loop. Our 4 year old can hike it. If you're looking for something a little longer, there are plenty of options for linking numerous loops. Just be aware that there is a small $5 day use fee, however, it's completely worth it. To make this visit even nicer, bring a picnic and enjoy sitting by Boulder Creek.
