State Park on the Oconee-Pickens boarder is just off Scenic Foothills Hwy (SC-11) so you can find a lot to do on this road.

Keowee-Toxaway State Park is a state park in Pickens County, South Carolina. It was created in 1970 along the shores of Lake Keowee from lands previously owned by Duke Power. The Keowee-Toxaway Museum includes exhibits about the area Cherokee Indians and their interactions with local settlers

The place to start the Jocassee Gorges driving tour. There are also several hiking trails that start from here.

Hiking trails, river and Lake Keowee swimming area. To access the lake, park at the kayak boat launch and there are several beaches hidden in the woods to the left of the ramp. Not nearly as crowded as other nearby parks.
