This is a fun experience and one that my family enjoys when they are in town. Tables of Content is located inside the historic Sylvia Beach Hotel, which is itself well worth a visit to see the author-themed rooms (Sundays mid-day are a great time to visit. If you ask politely, you will likely be allowed upstairs to see the rooms that are being turned that day. Jules Verne is my favorite room.) Tables of Content, as of this writing offers five different entrees each night, (one vegetarian) and soup, salad and sides served family style. They also provide dessert and coffee. All for $35, which seems very reasonable given the quality of the food and the presentation. Wine and beer are available for purchase. The chef recommends pairings with each entree. You need to make a reservation in advance, and you need to call the day of your reservation, as the entrees change daily, to select the entrees for your party. Seating is family style with a mix of hotel guests and locals. Sylvia Beach is renowned for its literary affinity, and many authors stay here. On our last visit we sat with three friends from Australia, Canada and Portland celebrating a birthday, and a couple from Astoria up the coast. A well known and favorite game when the restaurant manager is there is "Two Lies and a Truth" which guests play sometimes into the wee hours.
