Find access to the Long Trail nearby. This trail runs from Southern VT all the way north to Canada but people can enjoy day hikes along sections of it.

Hiking--the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail. Both trails pass through both Manchester and Killington, Vermont. To reach the trail in Manchester, go south on Route 30 for about 24 miles. Watch for signs for the trails. Parking will be on your left south of Manchester. To reach the trail in Killington, go north on Route 30 to route 4 in Castleton (about 14 miles). Turn right on Route 4, go through Rutland to Killington. Watch for trail signs.
