It's a beautiful place to visit, and there's a great sailing club for activities out on the lake.

The dam at Llyn Clywedog was completed in 1967 and the dam itself is 72m high. Great for walking, bird watching or fishing. You can drive or cycle all the way round the reservoir. Ospreys next by the lake. At the base of the dam is the Bryntail Leadmines, which is a free site to visit owned by CADW. Where to eat: Caffi Clywedog by the side of the top of the dam or nearby Llanidloes has a lot of cafes, pubs and restaurants, my favourite being The Angel.

Beautiful lake and dam. See the old lead mine, and look for nesting osprey. sailing club also here, and you can buy line caught trout from the lake at the fish deli in Llanidloes.

The dam is a wonderful place to visit, to admire the engineering of the structure and to take a stroll along the reservoir. There is good parking and a café with toilets. There are several picnic tables spaced along the one way route into the parking area and back out again. A trip to the mine combines well with a visit to the nearby Bryntail Lead Mine (see separate entry).
