Distance is 45 miles SW of Blanding , 55 minute drive. View prehistoric village ruins.
A personal favorite. More cool ruins. Remote, less crowded. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it. Best in spring and fall for cooler temps. If going in summer, try for early AM.
For more history and culture take the 45-minute drive west to Hovenweep National Monument. There are 6 prehistoric villages built between A.D. 1200-1300. Great hiking but be mindful of the potential for extreme heat and aridness in summer months.
The 2 mile hike near the visitor’s center includes many structures. Some up/down terrain.

“30 minutes south of Blanding. This museum features pioneers that settled Blanding and Bluff. It’s free to visit and it’s a cool place for adults and kids. Checkout la bunch of log cabins furnished with family heirlooms from the actual pioneers and their stories. There is a place for kids to pan for “gold”, hand carts to pull around, “steer” roping, and pioneer clothes for kids to dress up in. My favorite part is the homemade brownies and cookies sold for $1 .”

“Geology on display. One of the world’s best examples of an entrenched meander. There are 2 anticlines. Lime ridge and Raplee. Valley of the Gods is the adjacent syncline. ”

“Small but convenient. It's not a Smiths or Albertson's or Safeway, but it will work in a pinch. CLOSED ON SUNDAY.”

“Patio sells gourmet burgers, three different styles of fries and great soft serve ice cream. My favorite items are the regular style fries and a soft serve chocolate cone. These might be the best French fries you ever have! Plan to spend about $10 per meal.”

“The Visitor Center has a little collection of Blanding’s history. There is also an information desk with guides and brochures to help you find any adventure your looking for. There is park and picnic table too for kids.”
