Drinks & Nightlife

The Bedford Academy is right next door. Nice patio for a beer. The food is cheap and some of it is good. I especially recommend the ribs, the Charasso chicken and the roast vegetable salad.

The best concert hall in Toronto, you can get cheap tickets about 1 hour before the concert begins and best of all it is a 2 minute walk.

This is the best bakery in town in my opinion. Harbord Street has a couple of great bookstores and wonderful restaurants. It's a 20 minute walk

In the basement of the Manulife Centre, Bloor Street Market is an excellent grocery story. It's less expensive than Whole Foods and also has good prepared foods. It is run by Loblaws

An oasis of nature in the middle of the city, Philosopher's Walk is 5 minutes away and a famous short walk that will take you to University of Toronto, Harbord Street, or downtown.

Toronto Islands are an oasis in the City. I suggest taking the ferry to Ward's Island, which is residential and therefore very quiet. There is a lovely beach on the south side and a great restaurant

There is a long sand beach and a boardwalk here on the Lake. Take the subway to Queen Street and the Queen car to the Beaches. Also on Queen here great cafes, stores and restaurants

Even though there is construction now, Harbourfront is a great part of Toronto. Take the subway south to Union Station and then walk there. You can also get a ferry to the Toronto Islands
