The L&J Cafe is a uniquely flavorful link between El Paso’s past and present. Originally known as “Tony’s Place”, the restaurant opened on the outskirts of El Paso in 1927, providing home cooking, home brew and slot machines through Prohibition. Later renamed the “L&J Cafe,” a fourth generation now continues the family tradition. Delicious food and drink, excellent service and a historic (now central!) location make the L&J Cafe an enduring favorite among locals and lucky travelers alike.

Voted “Manliest Steakhouse in America” by Men’s Health magazine and featured on the Travel Channel and the Discovery Channel, Cattlemen’s boasts what many locals claim as the best steak in town. The lengthy menu incorporates a variety of options of grilled meats, from a standard NY Strip to the famous “Cowboy,” a two pound T-bone steak. Baked beans, and Cole slaw are familiar sides, but chances are you won’t find a better steamed wine mushroom recipe in town. The homemade Pecan Pie makes for an appropriately decadent finish. Situated on a working ranch you’ll want to arrive early to check out the exotic animals that roam free, hay rides and the stunning, never-ending scenery.
