Try the long hard walk up the front of the mountain for the challenge or take the road which is much easier. Either way you go it will be worth the view.

Enjoy the parks, take a walk on the canal or take in a show or a game at the Stadium. I have seen the Rolling Stones, Robbie and One Direction (with my young daughter, was still a great show)

Samgöngur

Trains or Trams are the best.

If leaving the city for the day, take the train if you can. It is easy and fairly inexpensive. And travel the tram around the city whenever you can. Traffic is not as bad as most large cities but Edinburgh is best served up by walking .
Siðir og menning

I have found Edinburgh to be a very liberal city

Edinburgh is a very friendly and safe city. People are always willing to help with directions and even advice about what to see. It is generally a fairly quiet city except on New Years eve when one of the greatest parties in the world happens. It has a pub culture but is not a party place.
Sparnaðarleiðir

travel by train.

For a major city, Edinburgh is a very affordable city. Some of the best food in the city is off the beaten path so explore all of the streets, wynds and closes to find some surprises. Parking downtown is hard to find and relatively expensive So much of what is great about Edinburgh is free, Arthurs seat, the canal walk, the water of leith, the beaches and exploring the historic buildings. Tour the city first and then decide what you would like to pay to see. Getting around is easy so stay just outside the city centre like Leith or Murrayfield. It is an easy trip in and lower cost.
