5-10 minute walk: Hamilton Park is the official location of the apartment. Set in Historic Downtown, the neighborhood is lined with historical brownstones and cherry blossom trees. -While in the neighborhood, don’t forget to check out Hamilton Park, a mere 2 blocks/5 minutes away. The park hosts a farmer’s market on Wednesdays, 4pm-7pm, May-December. -For local bites, check out some of our favorites – Rumba Cubana (Cuban), Hamilton Pork (BBQ), and Ahri’s Kitchen (Korean). After dinner, head out for some ice cream or sweets at Milk Sugar Love Creamery & Bakery. -Are you a caffeine addict? Stop for a coffee at nearby cafes such as The Basic, which serves tasty Korean and fusion food alongside thirst-quenching drinks, and O’Kafe with unique lattes and mouthwatering sandwiches. -Want a quick drink? There’s no need to walk far! We’ve got a bunch of local dive bars within a few blocks, including Ed & Mary’s Bar, White Star Bar, and Guillo’s. -Other notable places to check out include WORD Bookstore; our favorite liquor store, The Thirsty Quaker, whose owner heads up the Jersey City Brew Club; and the Dixon Mill Association, formerly the premiere factory for production of America’s No.2 pencils, now converted into luxury lofts.

Just don’t forget to grab a reusable bag from the closet beforehand, as NJ doesn’t allow vendors to hand out one-use plastic bags. Pick up some trinkets from Love Locked, which features 140+ local artists – or from any other one of the plentiful shops around. From clothing stores to mini marts, Harsimus Cove has it all. -If you’re looking for something you won’t see in any other neighborhood – take a walk down Erie, between 6th and 7th. If it’s a nice day out, you might catch our friendly neighborhood chickens, fenced into their private yard.

15-20 minute walk: The Waterfront is not to be confused with the Hudson River Waterfront – although that is where it is located! This modern Downtown neighborhood sits right on the Hudson River, between Newport and Paulus Hook. -Our go-to in the area is Hudson & Co, which offers both indoor and outdoor dining options and unparalleled views. The drinks can’t be beat, and the food is absolutely delicious. -If you’re in Jersey City during the summer, Smorgasbar is a must! Towards the end of the pier, Smorgasbar is an outdoor venue for summery cocktails and delicious food from numerous vendors. -What else is there to do in this neighborhood? Truthfully, most people come here solely for the views, as they walk along the pier. The neighborhood’s easy access and stunning views of the NYC Skyline, via Lower Manhattan, make it a favorite and frequent destination of ours. Personally, we love checking out the World Trade Center/Freedom Tower on a clear, sunny day and walking along the pier on a foggy night.
