Our closest beach right at the end of Topanga Canyon Blvd. Roughly a 9 minute drive from our location, makes this super convenient. There's plenty of free parking on Topanga Canyon Blvd on the east side of the Pacific Coast Highway as well as on PCH itself.

A hidden gem of a beach. Paradise Cove is a great starting point for long beach walks. Heading east you’ll walk below some Malibu mansions and find some private beaches and eventually Escondido Beach. It's on the smaller side and has a cafe with beachside dining. A parking tip is the Paradise Cove Cafe validates up to four hours for $10 with a $30 minimum purchase, otherwise parking is $45 Mon-Fri, $65 Sat-Sun.

El Matador Beach is one of three beaches within Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach. El Matador is the most popular of the three and the closest to Malibu. The parking lots for each beach are well-signed along Pacific Coast Highway in western Malibu. El Matador has a parking lot on the bluff with picnic tables that look out over the Pacific Ocean. A trail descends through unique eroding formations on the face of the bluff then stairs take you the rest of the way to the beach. The beach is one of our favorites. since its small and feels very private.

El Pescador Beach is the westernmost of three south-facing pocket beaches in Robert Meyer Memorial State Beach. There is a separate parking lot for each of these three beaches on the bluff next to Pacific Coast Highway in Western Malibu. From the El Pescador Beach parking lot you will hike down a trail to reach the beach. It’s the shortest hiking access of the three state beaches. This is a pleasant sandy cove with rocky areas and tide pools at both ends. If you walk west around the rocks (best at low tide), you’ll eventually find a secret county beach called El Sol Beach which doesn’t have it’s own access yet. In the other direction (east) it’s not a long walk to La Piedra State Beach. Another popular state park, Point Dume, is visible in the distance from El Pescador Beach.
