Nameri National Park is located on the foothills of the Himalayas. There are huge mountains near by which have very dense forests. The sight of those mountains adds a great charm to the National Park. The beautiful and serene Jia Bhoroli river is the lifeline of Nameri. It is very good for river rafting. The bank of the river has numerous round shaped stones. There are other waterbodies like streams and lakes too. The dense forest with various flora and fauna makes the National Park a heaven for nature lovers. Nameri National Park houses a number of mammals. Among them, Asiatic Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Marbled Cat, Leopard Cat, Hog Deer, Sambar, Barking Deer, Dhole, Mithun (Gaur), Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Capped Langur and Indian Giant Squirrel are present. This National Park is specially famous for birds like White winged wood duck, Great pied hornbill, Black stork, Ibisbill, Blue bearded bee eaters, Babblers, Plovers, Kingfishers etc.

The name is after a famous character in Agnigarh Aniruddha-Usha love story It has had a long tradition of hosting painting/drawing competitions for the nearby schools due to the various features it possesses. A replica of the famous Bhomoraguri inscription which recorded the ancient plans to build a bridge across the Brahmaputra where the current Kolia Bhomora Setu exists has been created in this park for public viewing.
