Food Scene

It’s a wee Italian cafe that doesn't look much from the outside but the food is amazing and it's really well priced! They also do litre bottles of wine and prosecco on tap… It’s not a destination place if you know what I mean, but it’s cheap and super authentic and delicious Italian food. It’s near the bottom of Leith Walk so you could eat there and then take a walk up Leith Walk over to the Shore (area of Leith) - where they have lots of nice pubs and bars. http://www.vittoriagroup.co.uk/tasteofitaly/

A fancy restaurant and bar on George Street that is usually too expensive to go for a long time, but it's worth going on for one drink as the building alone is stunning (it's an old converted bank).http://www.thedomeedinburgh.com

t’s about a 10 min walk from our flat and the manager is our neighbour! It’s a local bar with a cool, laid back vibe, an inventive food menu and it has a great playlist. They do open mic nights, have live music nights and you can book whiskey tasting sessions etc! If you are walking into town it’s a nice little stop off early evening on the way. You might just ending up staying (we usually do!) https://www.facebook.com/thesafariloungeuk/?ref=br_rs

Everything Else

The Shore - Leith - we’re a 20 min walk into Leith - it’s literally straight up Restalrig Road South and then you hit Leith Links and then over the other side is The Shore. There’s nice little pubs, cafes and restaurants there. Nice place to meander around in the evening, grab some food and bar hop!

We've listed Portobello under everything else because it falls into so many categories! It's Edinburgh's beach, it's a 20 min bus ride from the flat and it's a lovely stretch of beach which is awesome in the summer. Portobello High Street and the area around the beach have lots of nice little pubs, cafes, restaurants.

It's not really Edinburgh Waverley but its the Borders Railway which runs from that station. I've had to put Waverley down because the criteria for listing wouldn't recognise Borders. So here goes... Borders Railway They just opened a train line from Edinburgh to the borders and it's meant to be a really nice journey down (only takes about an hour I think). Although we’ve never been on it and were told this by Josh’s mum! https://www.scotrail.co.uk/scotland-by-rail/borders-railway

It's nice to go for a day trip here! You can get a bus directly (takes a while though) but you'd be quicker getting the train to Leuchars then there's a 10min bus to St. Andrews.

You can see it out of the living room window of the flat and it’s only a 10 min walk to Holyrood Park (Arthur’s Seat is in the middle of the park). If you like nature and views, the park and AS are awesome. I like just wandering around the park but the views, if you climb up to the top of Arthur’s Seat are great. https://www.historicenvironment.scot/media/4363/holyrood-park-map.pdf
