Restaurants

Call ahead for quicker seating. The patio has an amazing view and the drinks are great! They have the best Old Fashioned, and the food is delicious. The boiled peanuts are my favorite! They just installed water misters along the patio to keep you cool, but if it's too hot, the inside has a great ambiance!

This restaurant is just off the beaten path as you enter Downtown Ellijay. The service is amazing, the food is very New Orleans (and they have the best Gumbo I've ever had), and they have drink specials and a full bar.

Great hike with a beautiful waterfall. You can follow the signs for a more difficult hike up the mountain, or stay on the lower portion and go to the waterfall. Free parking, well marked and maintained trails, and just gorgeousness! There are several entrances, but the Cherry Log entrance is the only one I have started on. GPS is very good at directing you to the parking lot that is quite off the beaten path.

Take a very chill ride down the Cartecay River on the Lazy River or ask to go to a more challenging section of the river. Very affordable, relaxing, and beautiful! A must-do while you're in town during the warmer months! They'll let you take coolers and beverages (even though the website technically says no), but just no glass. A quick 10 minute ride from Pink Door Farmhouse! My 3 year old loved her first tubing adventure here!

Just a 15 minute drive from the house 3.4 mile loop great trail that runs alongside the river for a lot of the trail, some steep elevation change but generally easy overall You will park in a small parking area located off of Martin Road in Ellijay, Georgia. This is a Wildlife Management Area so a day pass is required. You can purchase one online before you go. They will not be available on site. You can take the wrong trail when this trail begins so listen up! From the parking area, you will walk around a "Road Closed" gate. You will walk along a gravel road until it comes to a fork. At this point, be certain to keep left. The trail will lead you through an open field and eventually down to the river.

Gorgeous 729-foot waterfall that’s the third-highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. There's a paved trail at the top of the falls or you can hike up the trail and take hundreds of steps up the mountain beside the waterfall. It's about a 30 minute drive from the house.

Wineries and Breweries

Just 10 minutes from the Pink Door Farmhouse, this place is a hidden gem. The website says you need reservations, but you really don't! They're only open on the weekends, so be sure to check the hours. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and you can bring your own picnic lunch/dinner and eat and drink alongside the banks of the Ellijay River. There's a beautifully manicured lawn between the vineyards and the river where people play corn hole, kick a soccer ball, hang out on the swings and hammock, and play fetch with dogs!

Adorable converted barn hosts the tasting room, and all the wine is made from grapes grown in the vineyards. Live music on weekends. Very laid back atmosphere! I highly recommend the Chimney Red. If you can't make it to the actual vineyard, there is a Cartecay River Wine and Craft tasting room in Downtown Ellijay on Main St that also serves beer.
