Geological adventure during the winter when marsh ice is solid ( not always a sure bet, just ask my husband.) Access by parking at Burlington High School and cross North Ave. Follow signs, only 1/8 mile down to caves. In case you take an unexpected plunge (again, eye roll toward my husband) you’ll want to have backup clothes in car and a friend (wife) handy.

Comfort food. Perfect pho ga to warm your pandemic-weary heart. A large serving is a good serving if you'd like a warm leftover later. Weatherproof Gear

Vermonter’s say that if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute. And that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. So, to ensure a comfortable visit: bring layers of clothing that wick moisture away from your body when you’ll be active, lots of layers to add or subtract as needed, and practical gear ( shoes and boots with good grippy tread, water repellent jackets, hats, and insulated outerwear for September through April.) Burlington trends warmer thanks to the Champlain Valley and lake effects.

Burlington Greenway & Waterfront Park

This is the heart of Burlington, connecting the north and south neighborhoods of the city together at the lake. Walk, roll, or run for over 30 possible miles that wind through the city - perfect for ditching your car - and trace along the lake (locals call this section the “bike path”) for incredible views of the Adirondack mountains and the BTV cityscape. Quiet and tranquil in the early morning and bustling with activity late afternoon and weekends.
