Sightseeing
Burry Port Harbour is a short walk from the house. You can walk around the harbour or have a coffee in the Harbour Light Cafe. From here, you can walk or cycle along the Millennium Coastal Path to Pembrey or Bynea - 13 miles in total.

Burry Port Harbour
Burry Port Harbour is a short walk from the house. You can walk around the harbour or have a coffee in the Harbour Light Cafe. From here, you can walk or cycle along the Millennium Coastal Path to Pembrey or Bynea - 13 miles in total.
Pembrey country park is a 500 acre forest dotted with pill boxes and the remains of a secret munitions production factory that supplied the troops of the Second World War. The forest is a rabbits warren of bicycle paths and nature trails so whether you have your bikes or not you can spend countless hours exploring.
If you haven't brought your bikes then don't worry, they can be rented in the park.
There is a dry ski slope with ski hire and a toboggan. There is also 9 hole pitch and putt golf along with a newly refurbished crazy golf. There is an excellent childrens play area and there is also a miniature railway offering train rides for the family. Our favourite part about Pembrey Country Park is its 8 mile long Atlantic storm beach complete with several shipwrecks. We have also found 2 messages in bottles on this beach, one from across the pond in Newfoundland! so keep your eyes peeled.

Take a beautiful walk around the harbour and get up close to Burry Port's iconic lighthouse built in the 1830s. A wonderful place to eat your fish and chips and take photos while looking out into the North Atlantic.

Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. On her journey from Trepassey, her Fokker Tri Motor sea plane "friendship" landed a mile or so East of Burry Port Harbour at Pwll slip. She later went on to dissapear mysteriously and has been the focus of one of the most extensive "manhunts" ever undertaken. Theories of her dissapearance range from her being an American spy captured by the Japanese, to her being washed up on a desert island and eaten by crabs. One thing is true though and that is that Amelia Earhart was an extremely brave and inspiring person.
