Always a hive of activity with many shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and outdoor music. If you don't want to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the central beach area, then try either end (east or west of the piers) for a more peaceful and tranquil experience.

Everything Else
A good long walk from the marina to Rottingdean, it is punctuated two thirds of the way by a delightful tiny café serving tea and cakes with fantastic views of the sea. It is also a good route for cyclists. Rottingdean itself, and the Kipling gardens are well worth visiting too. If you make it past Rottingdean, to Saltdean, there is a cafe/restaurant/bar called the White Cliffs serving Spanish tapas with equally good views.
