This is also a great international place (inspired by Berlin/Germany) with healthy, nice breakfasts and a simple environment. Artists and students come here a lot and like to sit for hours with their Macs and headphones.

If you want to cook at home, or just have a look at the food scene in Norway, Vulkan has a lot to offer. Lots of restaurants and bars, but also special shops for cheese, pancakes, meat, fish, chocolate or champagne. Situated by the river, and a quite new area with modern architecture and style. Some of the restaurants has a roof terrace. A bit pricy though!

Take a walk up the river! It separates the east from the west, and has a lot of history (working class history) to offer. Great view with waterfalls and bridges. Even a place to swim in the summertime. You can also get great views of the city if you follow it to the top.

Sit outside for a coffee and enjoy the cosy life of "løkka". You'll also find a lot of special shops who's hard to find other places, like barber shops or bicycle shops. In the summer there is a marked on the whole scene every first weekend of the month.
A flee marked/farmers marked takes place at Birkelunden every Sunday.
