very well known in the area, and packed on the weekends, so if you want to go, I suggest calling ahead. it's authentic german food.

Ok, so it's really hard to compare to NY pizza, but it's actually a really good classic pizza spot--and very close to the house.

This is more like an everything country market--they have pre-made food, lots of sweet stuff (be warned, it's all delicious, and it's all sugar ;-)), some light groceries, a store in the back...
I go here for breakfast fairly often just to grab a big bowl of oatmeal and a coffee.
Oh, it's not cheap. I would not recommend shopping here for groceries unless you're in a pinch or a rush.

ShopRite has changed over the years and now has a great organic section! I still recommend Health and Nutrition for groceries, but if you want one stop shopping, this is a good one to hit on your way up from the city.

the cheapest healthy food store up here. much cheaper than Mother Earths in Kingston or the High Falls Co-op. I always stop here on my way if I'm coming from the city.

It's Walmart, but it's the closest shopping to the house. It's only 8 minutes away heading south on 209--and it's open 24 hours.

This is a classic, rather janky country bar, but they sometimes have great music on the weekends to boogie to! Worth calling ahead to see what's going on if you just want to get out and see people.

Great spot for hikes, blueberry picking when in season, secret swim spots... (if you think you can spot a local, see if they know where secret spot is for swimming! but don't say you're a tourist. we like to keep such things close)

Great hikes--there are tons of trails to explore! worth an internet gander before trying out a trail... some you can just park on the side of the road and hike in.

Great hike in to a stunning river/waterfall. Takes about an hour, maybe less, to get to the falls.

This is a local organic orchard that does outside movies on the weekends, you can pick apples and eat pizza and they sometimes have live music. It's a great chill spot during the day--I'm not entirely sure how late in the season they are open, so definitely check first!

Great brewery to check out. You can see the huge field where the grow the hops while you have some of their brew and eat some food. They often have events in the open field outside as well.

It's not cheap to get in, but they have a skating rink for winter days and they have the best spa in the area if you want some pampering!
