Haworth is the home of the famous artistic family the Brontes. The girls, Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote the classical masterpieces like Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights whilst their brother Branwell was a talented artist who spent some years living locally as he was station master at Luddenden railway station. Haworth is just 10 miles over the hills from Dyer’s Cottage.

A 1000 year old church in the heart of Halifax with well documented parish records. Come here to see the gravestone of local lady Anne Lister who is now famous as ‘Gentleman Jack’. She was a regular worshiper here.

This amazing structure is the tallest folly in the world at 77m. The view from the top is amazing and on the photo with woodland Dyer’s Cottage is actually visible in the top left corner opposite the distinctive roof of an old chapel. The tower can be seen from miles and is illuminated at night. It is open to climb 400 steps on summer Bank Holiday Monday’s from 11.00 to 16.00 at a small cost.

The view from the top is amazing and on the photo with woodland Dyer’s Cottage is actually visible in the top left corner opposite the distinctive roof of an old chapel.
