Its our favourite gastro pub in the Stroud valleys. Great indoors or outside with lovely views of Slad Valley if the sun is shining. It was Laurie Lee's local too.

Amberley is a beautiful little village with even more stunning views out to the Severn Estuary and on a fine day you can see right over to Wales, the Breacon Beacons and the Black Mountains! Tie this in with a walk around Rodborough or Minchinhampton Commons.

Good walking and wildlife spot. There is also a lake.
There are a few hundred cattle, 4 horses and a donkey living on the Common. The views are incredible on a fine day.

The canal is currently under restoration but well worth a walk. You can get right out to Stonehouse going west, or Brimscombe going east. There is also a lovely cafe at Wallbridge "Upper Lock Cafe" to have a pit-stop.
