This is the main grocery store we use when at the cottage. It has just about anything you would need. It is on the smaller side compared to large grocery stores in Ottawa, but it has a deli counter, produce section, fresh baked goods and meat section. This is about a 20 minute drive from our cottage.

This is the local store located 1 km from our cottage. It is owned and operated by the Bretzlaff family. The store has small food items (pasta and sauce, milk, eggs, pancake mix, etc.), beer, wine and spirits. There is also a gad station. It is a great place to get small items quickly from the cottage. Very nice people who run the store and can provide local information if needed.

2155 QC-303This is the local store located 1 km from our cottage. It is owned and operated by the Bretzlaff family. The store has small food items (pasta and sauce, milk, eggs, pancake mix, etc.), beer, wine and spirits. There is also a gad station. It is a great place to get small items quickly from the cottage. Very nice people who run the store and can provide local information if needed.
Food Scene
Cafe 349 is a great little spot to grab lunch or supper. It is popular in the evenings during the summer so you may need a reservation. It serves good food and they have daily specials which are usually quite good. We have eaten there many times and recommend it as a treat for yourself. The prices are reasonable for a sit down restaurant.

This is a little Chinese food restaurant in Shawville. We sometimes get take-out from this place to eat at the cottage. The portions are quite large and the food is good. It is a bit on the expensive side compared to Ottawa, but you are paying for the convenience of a Chinese food meal in cottage country.

291 Rue MainThis is a little Chinese food restaurant in Shawville. We sometimes get take-out from this place to eat at the cottage. The portions are quite large and the food is good. It is a bit on the expensive side compared to Ottawa, but you are paying for the convenience of a Chinese food meal in cottage country.
This is the BEST poutine in all of the Ottawa area. Carlo has a huge sign visible from the road (highway 366 through Masham). I have used the Carlo Pizza neighbouring location in the map because it is all Airbnb recognizes, but I am not recommending the pizza place next door, but I am recommending the poutine. It is a great place to stop about halfway up or halfway down from our cottage if you are hungry and looking to take a break from the road.

This is the location of where a local gentleman (Dave Mayer) has created the absolute best skating rink through a forest he owns. It is simply amazing. The skating loop is 3 km long and winds its way through a mature forest. There are lots of benches to rest along the way and being in nature like that while skating is simply a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this activity in winter.
