Aldeias de Xisto is a network of over 20 small and authentic villages in the mountains nearby. Some of these villages are entirely build in schist stone. Have a look how people are living for centuries in traditional manner. It's great to spend a full day here. Easy to combine a couple of villages into one day trip. Try Cerdaira, Talasnal! All villages are easy reachable by car. Stunning hike trials nearby.

Pedrógão Pequeno is a beautiful little village just five minutes away from our Quinta. It's small and loverly to have a walk around, and if you're lucky the church is open to have a view.
Just outside the village, deep down in the valley runs the Rio Zezere. Beautiful to spend some hours here to hike, to canoe, to fish - or just to sit down and relax near the waterfront.
Look for signs of Ponte Filipino and / or Moinhos das Freiras.

Pedrógão Pequeno
Pedrógão Pequeno is a beautiful little village just five minutes away from our Quinta. It's small and loverly to have a walk around, and if you're lucky the church is open to have a view.
Just outside the village, deep down in the valley runs the Rio Zezere. Beautiful to spend some hours here to hike, to canoe, to fish - or just to sit down and relax near the waterfront.

Beautiful old town, only 45 minutes away from the Quinta. Lots of old charm and culture. A must do is visiting the old library of the University of Coimbra.

Some nice restaurants in Pedrogao Grande
- A taberna do ferrador, located just behind the town hall building near the garden/park in center of the village. Good food and great wines.
In Pedrogao Grande there are a couple of good local restaurants. They serve good and honest food and are very good to taste the fair ambiance of the interior of Portugal. Try one of the many dishes of the day: very large portions, big cans of local wine, lots of light and always a TV set with Portuguese news and futebol!
