Open 24 hours and inside of City Park. Famous for their beignets, they have been around nearly as long as the uberfamous Cafe Du Monde. You can enjoy beignets and an epic ambience and view of City Park and the oaks, ducks, swans and ponds during the day. Also have a more extensive menu than Cafe Du Monde with a few traditional Louisiana faire in addition to the beignets.

Shopping

Our favorite spot in the city! Market is open 7pm -1am on most weekend days. (It varies and is open more days when it is in peak tourist season and less in the hotter months.) Filled with talented, local art handmade by local musicians. You can find everything from local photography and art, to wooden bowties, art made from forks, wine bottle art, oyster shell art candles, incense, t shirts and more. This street is lined with bars playing local live music. We love to grab a drink at the bar, listen to amazing jazz and browse the open air nighttime art market.

This is the street to go if you want to see live music in New Orleans. There are smaller venues where you can get a more authentic experience yet there is no street that has as much jazz in a few blocks as Frenchmen street

Oldest bar in America since 1772. Named after the pirate Jean Lafitte this bar really feels like a pirate's hang out. There no lights coming from the ceiling and it is mostly lit by candlelight, especially the piano bar. The piano bar is by request. Money in the bowl, you're in control. 5 dollars will get you a song of your choice. Sing alongs are great and it's fun to go back in time at this bar and imagine how many other characters have passed through over the years from pirates, politicians, famous people, mobsters.
