The Blue House Café in Vernonia has scrumptious food for everyone, from vegan to omnivore. Perhaps it would be best described as pan-Mediterranean. Yum!!! Prices are reasonable. The café is spacious yet cozy. It invites one to linger. Long and broad tables encourage conversation; there are books to pull from shelves and peruse. Cyclists are catered to. Just a wonderful, one-off restaurant.

Within St. Helen's Historic District, this restaurant has terrific pasta dishes. Haven't yet tried the steak, but I bet it's great, too.

The food is chiefly SE Asian--Laotian, Thai, Vietnamese. Love this type of cuisine! There are plentiful vegetarian options, as well as meat dishes. Go at lunchtime or for dinner--it closes for a few hours in the mid-afternoon.

If you love fish and chips, you MUST TRY THIS PLACE. The owner invested $30,000 in obtaining the optimal equipment, and is hooked up to top-notch fish suppliers. There's modest outdoor seating, or you can take away or have your order delivered.

Parks & Nature
The CZ Trail extends from the Multnomah Channel 21 miles to the NW. It has a gentle incline but goes on and on, so it's suitable for both inexperienced and veteran hikers and bikers. Stick to the trail, since most of the land on either side is private property. But there is plenty to see on the trail, from farmland to old-growth forest, creeks, mountain views...wonderful. It's an ideal place for a shinrin-yoku experience. And it costs nothing!
