Food Scene

Beautiful canal-boat café with decent coffee, home-made cakes and muffins, and grilled panini. Seating outside and in (where you're at duck level).

Fantastic Persian restaurant. Highly recommended!! Tell them Kate sent you and get them to tell you about the dessert I would kill for :). It is however a bit echoey. You will need to book.

Beautiful spot to eat right on the water - the restaurant is actually a canal boat. Food is on the pricey side but excellent, with a focus on fish.

A Chinese institution in London (there's one in Chinatown too, but this is the original), the Four Seasons is famed for its crispy duck. Oh, and for its extremely bossy head waitress! Expect to queue.

Also known as "Romance in Little Venice". Fabulous, friendly Australian café and now evening bar too. With great coffee, fresh squeezed juices, delicious sandwiches, salads and cakes, and a pimped-up motorcycle rocking horse in the window.

The Quince Tree is a beautiful, charming cafe in the middle of the oldest garden centre in London. Clifton Gardens is worth a visit on its own. Expensive but high quality coffee/tea, cakes, lunches and brunches.

I love this Mexican restaurant and tequila bar. The BEST margaritas and ceviche and funky decor. Well worth a quick stop if you're on your way to explore Portobello Market.

Drinks & Nightlife

Fantastic pub a 10-min walk away along the canal. London-brewed beers, a great selection of whiskies, great atmosphere, brilliant food (they have their own smoker, and the 12-hour ribs are the best I've ever eaten) and friendly, nice service. Live music on some nights, pub quizzes on others. In summer, sit outside by the canal.

Lovely traditional pub with a relaxed atmosphere, great music, friendly staff, fabulous fish & chips, and several tables out on the pavement to enjoy your pint on one of the prettiest streets around.

Quite the most unusually beautiful pub I've ever seen. Cut glass, mosaic floors and amazing stucco ceilings. But the highlight is the way it's structured. You'll see when you get there! Ask the staff about why it was built this way. Food is good quality and value (although personally I find that the place often smells of cooking which puts me off) and the service is friendly.
