Tyne Bridge
Tyne BridgeNewcastle's Castle and The Black Gate are a great sight to visit if you want to get a sense of the diverse and layered history of the city. Amazing panoramic views from the top of the Castle and a thorough exhibition of the history of the area to be found in The Black Gate. We reccomend taking a walk from there down to the quayside along one of Newcastle's ancient stairways such as Dog Bank.

The bar on the ground floor is also very popular for food and drinks both early morning breakfasts and late night cocktails.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but venture through the front craft shop (stuffed full of beautiful handmade pottery, glassware, cards, prints and jewellery) and you'll also find a gallery space and MASSIVE art materials store (with very welcoming and well informed staff, also all materials are 20% below the RRP).
Out of the art shop there is magical hidden courtyard built around an ancient (pre-Roman) well. In the courtyard is a frame shop which does all kinds of bespoke framing, canvas stretching, mounting, etc. There is also a
