Kamal's is possibly the greatest curry experience both myself and Josh have ever had! Very friendly, informative staff, an outstanding array of choices (for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters alike) at a very good price. They always have room to accommodate people but are particularly quiet on weekday evenings.

This is an INCREDIBLE Thai restaurant that caters for veggies, vegans and meat eaters alike. It's not only a great dining experience but the best Thai food we've experienced in the UK. 10/10

Lovely, friendly pub in the Ouseburn serving a great range of local ales (including a big vegan selection) and the most delicious home cooked food until 9pm (vegetarian and vegan, our favourites are the chunky chips, onion rings, beet burger and lucky fish & chips). Great, accommodating staff with indoors and outdoors seating and late night dancing at weekends.

Great old Newcastle pub with the best view from any beer garden in Newcastle. Excellent selection of ales, ciders, and whiskeys served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. In the summer at weekends there is often a pizza van doing great, sourdough pizzas and during the winter they have open fires and mulled wine/cider.

Newcastle's Castle and The Black Gate are a great sight to visit if you want to get a sense of the diverse and layered history of the city. Amazing panoramic views from the top of the Castle and a thorough exhibition of the history of the area to be found in The Black Gate. We reccomend taking a walk from there down to the quayside along one of Newcastle's ancient stairways such as Dog Bank.

Tyneside Cinema is one of the few remaining New Reel Cinemas in the country. Situated in a Grade II listed building the cinema hosts a diverse programme of films, events and live screenings. If you get the chance we well reccomend one of the morning tours which takes in the original 'Classic' cinema and a real news reel screening. The bar on the ground floor is also very popular for food and drinks both early morning breakfasts and late night cocktails.

Star & Shadow Cinema is more than a cinema. It is an alternative social, cultural, arts and community hub run by a collective of volunteers. The cinema hosts a huge and diverse array of screenings and events from DIY, independent and world cinema to club nights and language schools. It is a frinedly, welcoming space great for a cheese toastie or a pint and a dance later at night.

Newcastle Arts Centre is a surprising mash up of spaces and entities in one centrally located block in Newcastle (just 2 minutes from Central Station). From the outside it doesn't look like much but venture through the front craft shop (stuffed full of beautiful handmade pottery, glassware, cards, prints and jewellery) and you'll also find a gallery space and MASSIVE art materials store (with very welcoming and well informed staff, also all materials are 20% below the RRP). Out of the art shop there is magical hidden courtyard built around an ancient (pre-Roman) well. In the courtyard is a frame shop which does all kinds of bespoke framing, canvas stretching, mounting, etc. There is also a
