Lovely community garden--the greenest block in Brooklyn, open to the public. Excellent for decompressing with a book in the afternoon.

It's actually possible to walk alone here. Astounding Gothic entrance at 5th Ave/25th St.; parrots nest here too. Natural hills, small wildlife, and a truly American breadth and variety of graves.

Essentials

One-stop quality produce, bread, etc. It's expensive but often worth it. The whole-bean coffee and store-brand olive oil are good deals, and I haven't found better apples in the area. Great cheese.
