13261 Maclay StBecause of the name everyone always thinks this is a brewery (like, for beer), but it's a coffee shop with good food. It's also just a cool atmosphere because it's in a plaza with a few others restaurants (Papa Juan's, Freestyle Pizza N' Wings, and Old Fashioned Chiliburgers & Sandwiches) and our city's library. I spend a lot of time here working on my laptop. Every once in a while there are also events here (either inside the House of Brews or in the plaza).

Papa Juan

Fiddler's Restaurant

This is not the closest taco shop (you can't throw a rock around here without hitting one), but it's one of my favorites that's an actual restaurant. My actual favorite place for tacos is on the corner of Polk St & Bradley Ave, but it's not an actual restaurant. They just set up shop right there on the corner. The only thing that sucks is that I'm never exactly sure when they're there. I want to say every Friday and/or Saturday night (though I've seen them there at other times too, just don't remember which days) though I'm not 100% confident that this is their regular schedule. Whenever I try to eat here and they are not there my back up place is a Taco Truck called Mi Rancito Taqueria.

In addition to really good sandwiches, I love the fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juice they have here. They have great smoothies too.

If The Federal is still too far, Caruso's can be pretty cool on Friday and Saturday nights. It's an Italian restaurant, but there's also a bar that gets pretty packed sometimes and occasionally they have live music.
