There's an entrance to the BRP right in Weaverville where you can hike the Rattlesnake Lodge trail, a favorite hike of locals. Beginning in Virginia the Parkway follows the Blue Ridge Mountains for the first 355 miles. Then it skirts the southern end of the massive Black Mountains, named for the dark green spruce and fir that cover them, weaves through the Craggies, the Pisgahs, the Balsams, and ends in the Great Smokies. The mountain ranges of the Parkway include the oldest mountain-building processes in the world.

The grand foyer is flanked with massive fireplaces built with huge boulders, and has plenty of comfy seating and a piano bar with a dance floor. Amazing place with incredible history. Great views from the Horizons patio seating.
