Go around this small lake, I prefer the small path next to the shoreline. Great scenery and easy 3-4km hike. During summer it's also possible to swim in the lake.

Pyynikinharju is the worlds tallest esker rising 80 meters from the lake Pyhäjärvi. On top of that esker there is observation tower from where you are able to see Tampere and both big lakes. You can walk around the forest paths and don't forget to check out the famous Munkki at the cafe.

Ratina is the newest and coolest of the shopping centers at Tampere. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Lunch, dinner or drinks at Periscope terrace on top of the building is a must. To get to Periscope you need to find the food court on 3rd floor and then at the end there is an elevator to 6th floor where Periscope is.

To get to Periscope you need to find the food court on 3rd floor and then at the end there is an elevator to 6th floor where Periscope is.
Ideapark at Lempäälä is one of the biggest shopping centers in Finland. Good for rainy day and for kids there is an indoor activity park.

In case you want to do some sports while staying at Tampere the Hervanta Swimming pool is an experience you should not miss. The pool is 30 meters underground in a cave that is built to be a bunker. When you enter the place you will be greeted with blast doors and joyful sounds of kids playing in the water. Small but well equipped gym is included in the entrance fee. Note: Closed during summer months.

Kaupinojan sauna is the biggest public sauna in Tampere with possibility to do winter swimming. You need to bring with you a swim suit and towel, slippers preferred but those are available for free there as well.

Särkänniemi is an amusement park in Tampere. Unique thing about this park is that the entrance is free, only going to the rides cost. So it's worth checking out and then decide if you want to go or not. For kids there is a large Angry Birds park available without ticket.

Finlayson area has few outdoor art pieces, beautifully painted streets, but most of all it's all about the old historical factory buildings. The Plevna building was first in Nordic countries and 4th in Europe to be equipped with incandescent lighting.

There is large selection of different shops, cafes and restaurants but most importantly the unique atmosphere is worth checking out. It feels like you have stepped back in time, in a good way, once you enter in the hall. My favorite restaurant Neljä Vuodenaikaa is at the end of the hall.

Childrens culture center Rulla is a must visit place for families with children. Entrance is free and there is always something to do and someone to guide you around. Please check the opening hours beforehand as they are not regular.

Vapriikki has always high quality exhibitions to be visited. Game museum (in Vapriikki) alone is worth the trip as they have done an amazing job in keeping the old gaming machines in working condition and available to play.
