Nice place to find handmade or handcrafted stuff. Particularly interesting: carvings and humidors (special wood boxes for store cigars, unique!). Also you can change money there in official facilities

The Museum is located next to colonial Plaza San Francisco de Asis, just across the port of Havana. It is not necessary to be a drinker to enjoy this fabulous museum, since the visit will allow you to dive right in part of Cuban culture. The museum has an interesting circuit guided, where the complex process of making rum with old traditional machines is exposed. The circuit is available in Spanish, English, French, German and Italian, and explains the whole process, from the preparation of white oak barrels until its fermentation and aging.

The former Presidential Palace is currently a museum with a wide collection related with the Cuban revolutionary process, including the yacht "Granma", on which Fidel Castro and his comrades sailed from Mexico to start the guerrilla war against the dictator Fulgencio Batista. The building is precious and plenty of its own intense history: you can see on the walls the impacts of the bullets from the attack of young revolutionaries on 1957.

This marble 20 meters tall Christ statue is located in the opposite shore of the Bay, welcoming visitors that arrive by the port. It was carved by the famous Cuban artist Jilma Madera. From that advantage point you can have one of the most beautiful views of Havana. The fishermen village below the hill where it is located is very folkloric. Also, near the mirador there is located a small museum related with Che Guevara.

Plaza Vieja, designed in 1559, is one of the most eclectic architectural points in Havana. There the Cuban Baroque coexists with the art nouveau of Gaudí's inspiration. Plaza Vieja and the surrounding streets have beautiful art galleries, very typical of Havana, with arches and stained glass windows. Other interesting places located there are the Planetarium, the Photo Library of Cuba, the Playing Card Museum, the Art Center La Casona, the Cultural Center Pablo de la Torriente Brau; or the Palacio Cueto, one of the best example of art nouveau in Havana. There are several bars around, though expensives. you may try La Vitrola, a nice one with moderate prices for drinks and meals.

This is the most uniform of the four main colonial squares of Old Havana. This place is a veritable museum of Cuban baroque, as all buildings on it, including the Cathedral, are from the eighteenth century. Some of the most important buildings in this square, in addition to the Cathedral of San Cristobal de La Habana, are the Palace of the Marques of Aguas Claras, the Palacio del Conde de Lombillo, the Palacio del Marqués de Arcos, the Palacio de los condes de Casa Bayona, which currently houses the Museum of Colonial Art; and Wifredo Lam Center, a small museum and gallery dedicated to Wifredo Lam, one of the most renowned modern artists Cubans.

The Morro Castle is part of the old defense system of the bay (together with La Cabaña Fortress, La Punta Castle, and the Castle of the Royal Force), that made the city impossible to conquer... through that way, the British did it using a smarter way in 1762 :-) The castle is amazing and full of History, the view of the city from the top of the lighthouse is gorgeous, and in days without wind the cliffs and the sea in the north side are great in the sunset.

This square was used for military exercises during part of our colonial history. Now is a nice an enjoyable green spot, with many important places on each side: the Palace of the General Captain (now a museum), the Royal Force Castle (now, the Submarine Archeology Museum), and the former US Embassy (now the National Museum of Natural History). The square is also a gathering point for sellers of old books and antiques. Also, it's a common stage for the National Concert Band performances.

Very close to the apartment, just in between the Artisans' Market and the Maritime Boardwalk, is located the Old Wood and Tobacco Warehouse, where a new brewery has been settled. One of the very few places in Cuba where craft beer is produced and sold. Great place to enjoy a wonderful beer, the breeze, and a view of the Bay. Usually there are local brands that play there during the weekend's nights.

This amazing place gathers several events at the same time (live music, disco, theatre, art gallery), and lure people of all ages and nationalities. Opened from Thursday to Sunday, if you are coming to Havana you should not miss it. The entrance fee is really cheap (2 CUC per person) and the drinks prices below the average for Havana night clubs.
