Food Scene

What it lacks in scenery (seriously, it's located on a very forgettable residential st) it makes up for with great food - all made on premises. Great for coffee and breakfast.

Not quite the secret it once was however this is a great place if you want to avoid crowds and very long waits in summer (as it is nearby the boat yards in Sorrento/Portsea with easy parking) and/or you don't want to spend a fortune. They do great coffee and a lot more than just bakery good now too, plus there is a usually lots of tables outside.

Drinks & Nightlife

Great view, ordinary food. Perfect for a pre-dinner drink on the grass overlooking the beach. Stroll down for a swim and then back for a drink. If under 30, it;s where all the action is at night is

Everything Else

Worth the walk down from the carpark. One of the quietest stretches on the coast. At low tide there's a great, safe rookpool (just look for the people). Otherwise, very rough as Harold Holt learnt

Something for everyone here. History buffs could easily spend half a day (or more) exploring the the old military sights (cannons, bunkers etc) and the old quarantine station. If that is not your thing, there is some great hiking (or bike riding) and views of the bay, ocean and across the bay entrance to Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. Check the website to see what's going on as they also sometimes have markets, night time cinema and other events.

Great beach for people watching and swimming (between the flags). Definitely visit when there is a northerly as while the bay beach will be windy and messy, it should be eerily calm down here.

Wineries. Lots of them. Also some really good food stores and a brewery. The drive there can be scenic and windy or via the freeway if you want to get there a little quicker.

Yes, and old-school drive-in! Put Potsy and Ralph Malph in the boot, grab your lady and catch a double feature. It's actually a lot of fun.

One of, if not the best beach on the peninsula. Unfortunately the secret is out so often quite crowded, but secluded, with a few old piers framing the beautiful water. A must visit for families.

This is closest access to he Peninsula Coastal Walk - a 30 kilometre trail from Cape Schanck to Portsea. Great to even do a little bit. Jump on anywhere along the back beach and wander off.

Worth a stroll around and plenty of shops. Best places to eat are Three Palms (bit more expensive), Ital.ico (pizza/pasta), and a mexican inspired place (next door) that is fun.

Rye is largest nearby place and has big Woolies, doctors etc etc. best to avoid unless you need things. Prefer the small IGA at Blairegowrie if you don't need a lot of stuff

Un-patrolled ocean beach (so beware if swimming), however the highlight here is the rock pools and the natural 'jump rock' with 10, 20 and 30 foot ledges that go into a deep rock pool.

So, spending many millions on a clifftop house in Sorrento/Portsea doesn't give you ownership of the the land near the cliff's edge. As such, in the few places where there is access, you are welcome to walk along the cliff top and enjoy the amazing views (of houses and the water). Definitely a great stroll and don't worry about feeling like a stickybeak - there will be others there and the homeowners are well used to it. Access is via a wooden gate at the end of Lentell Ave in Sorrento.

Parks for Kids

Great, historic park on top of cliff, looking out over ocean. Lots of gardens, grass, BBQs and a massive kids playground - with plenty of shade. A must with kids.

Grab a coffee and mingle (or stare at your phone) with all the peninsuala parents. Great playground with bbq and takeway nearby. Only downside is lack of shade.
